Police on Monday were investigating a man suspected of committing crimes against children and they said it was not the first time he has been in similar trouble.

Police said that Richard Edward Wood is child predator that they did not know was living among them, CrimeTracker 10's Angela An reported.

Wood's past came back to light after he allegedly exposed himself to several children as young as 12 and showed them graphic images.

Police said that Wood watched children and teenage boys from his home, which is near Basil Park.

"We found binoculars right at the back window, which leads right to the swing set at the park here," said Officer Jason Harget. "We call that the grooming stage. (He) brought them in the house, let them play video games, listen to loud music, stuff teenagers like to do."

At least five victims have come forward, An reported.

Some said Wood drove them to Magic Mountain over the summer break without telling their parents.

Harget discovered that Wood was convicted of gross sexual imposition against young boys in 1989 and 1992.

He served time in prison but because his conviction was before the Adam Walsh Act, he did not have to register as a sex offender when he was released, An reported.

Residents told police they have seen Wood taking pictures of children at sporting events and other locations. Police are asking anyone who may have had contact with him to call them right away.
