Police said that the city's annual Halloween block party near the Ohio University campus on Saturday was a little larger than in years past, but arrests were down this year.
Officers arrested 78 people, mostly on alcohol-related charges.
Last year, more than 100 arrests were made, 10TV News reported.

City officials said that this year's crowd remained fairly large throughout the evening and overall larger than past years.
All crowds broke up shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, police said.
According to police, nine people were arrested for disorderly conduct incidents starting at 9 p.m. Saturday and ending at 3 a.m. Sunday. Six were arrested for fights, and six others were arrested for assaults.
Police also responded to burglary calls, noise complaints, threats, vandalism, a suicide attempt, drugs and domestic situation.
According to officers, the majority of arrests involved disorderly conduct by intoxication. There were also 24 arrests for underage intoxication or age consumption.
The Ohio Department of Public Safety's liquor enforcement did not immediately report arrest statistics.
The Athens Fire Department responded to several calls in the Court Street area during the night. The most significant was a suspicious fire at the Athena Movie Theatre, located at 20 S. Court Street. The fire caused minor damage and is under investigation, police said.
"I am relieved to have an uneventful evening that was without major injury or disturbance," said Paula Mosley, the city's service director.
