A man was charged on Wednesday with attempting to force his girlfriend to get an abortion.
Police said Dominic L. Holt-Reid was charged with kidnapping after police said he held his girlfriend at gunpoint and drove her to a clinic on East Broad Street, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.
Holt-Reid, 28, was angry with his girlfriend because she failed to go through with an abortion that was scheduled for Wednesday morning, according to the police report.
Investigators said the couple was in a car after dropping their 5-year-old child off at school, when Holt-Reid pulled a handgun from the glove compartment and forced the woman to drive to the clinic.
The woman then passed a note to a clinic employee, who called police. She was uninjured.
Holt-Reid faces an additional charge of carrying a concealed weapon. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
