A man died Tuesday morning after his van pinned him against a utility box on the city's southeast side.

Bryan R. Green, 52, of Pataskala, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7:30 a.m., 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.

Firefighters said Green, an AT&T employee, was working near the corner of South Hamilton and Groves roads when his van slipped into gear and trapped him against the box.

Johnathan Bowman, an employee at a nearby gas station, called 911 after seeing Green's body.

"There was just a little bit of a humming noise, so I thought that maybe he got electrocuted," Bowman said.  "I didn't want to get too close when I heard the humming."

Investigators, including those with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, were working to determine more about what happened.

AT&T issued a statement on Tuesday, expressing sympathy toward Green's friends and family.

"We will work with his family to assist them as best we can through this tragedy and are making on-site counseling available to the employee's co-workers.  We will work with law enforcement to assist as they investigate."
