The Fairfield County Department of Health will be closed Wednesday as it tries to get a handle on fleas that have infested the building.
The department, located at 1587 Granville Pike, will be closed through Friday, health officials said.
While the county health commissioner does not think the fleas pose an immediate health risk, they can transmit certain diseases.
Health officials said the building will be cleaned and scrubbed thoroughly during the next couple of days. On Friday, a flea fog will be used in the hopes of killing the insects and their eggs, 10TV's Patrick Bell reported.
The process is expected to cost about $2,000.
Several programs held at the department will be postponed until Monday.
