Most people have made their plans for New Year's Eve, but many forget about planning a safe ride home.
10TV's Karina Nova reported Wednesday on a few new options for getting you and your car home.
When the ball drops on New Year's Eve, the champagne will be flowing at Byrne's Pub.
"It should be a big night, it usually is, we get a big crowd here," said owner Patrick Byrne. "You can ask them not to drive, you can call them a cab, but you can't guarantee they're going to get into it."
That is why this year Byrne's and several other bars are handing out vouchers to customers each one good for $10 toward a cab ride home.
"So this is an extra incentive and very effective to get people off the roads," Byrne said.
A new company has an option for getting you and your car home after the festivities.
Safe Way Home will pick you up and drive your car home.
"Unlike a taxi where you have to leave your car and go back and get it again, we take you right to your house," said owner Gary Balser.
Balser advises people call early to make sure they get a ride.
The Yellow Cab garage is prepping for its biggest driving day of the year, Nova reported.
"Typically, what we'll ask is for people to call an hour ahead of time, but on New Year's Eve, we ask for even longer," said Yellow Cab's Jeff Kates. "Up to two hours before when they will need a cab,"
"We know that if we hand out 100 (vouchers) that's 100 less impaired people that are driving," Byrne said.
Byrnes Pub joins other bars that are offering vouchers, including Fado Irish Pub, Bar Louie Easton, Martini Park at Easton and The Pub at Polaris.
COTA's Night Owl service will also be running on New Year's Eve, offering bus service until 3 a.m. along High Street.
In 2008, there were 40 alcohol-related deaths in Franklin County, Nova reported.
