The Volunteers of America was busy Wednesday, preparing more than 2,500 meals to deliver to those in need, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported.
Volunteers of all ages worked to prepare 200 turkeys, 300 loaves of bread, and almost 300 pumpkin pies.
"I think this is important because I have so much to be thankful for, God has blessed me with so many things I should give back to people that have less than I do and really need it more than I do," said volunteer Charlie Prior.
Other places serving free meals on Thanksgiving including the Community Kitchen on South Ohio Avenue and the Mt. Vernon AME Church.
