New details emerged Wednesday after a man was found shot to death inside an SUV parked at a north side apartment complex.

A person walking through the parking lot at the Tamarack Arms apartment complex spotted the body at about 2:30 a.m. and called police.

The man in his 40s had been shot in the head, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.

Investigators said it appeared the man was killed in a shooting that was first reported by a woman about 24 hours earlier, Ramos reported.

Officers were working a standoff situation across the street early Tuesday morning when a woman came forward, claiming that her husband had been shot.

The woman told police that she and her husband were trying to rob a drug dealer when the shooting occurred.

Police said the woman's story did not add up and no body was found, so they dropped her off at a family member's home, Ramos reported.

Investigators on Wednesday were working to locate the woman again, but as of noon she had not yet been found.

The name of the man who was found shot to death has not been released by police.

The investigation was ongoing.
