Buckeyes' Heyward Named National Defensive Player Of Week

Ohio State defensive tackle Cameron Heyward was named the National Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Heyward, a junior, recorded a game-high 11 tackles, including three for losses, and two quarterback sacks as the Buckeyes defeated Big Ten-rival and 11th-ranked Penn State, 24-7.

Heyward led an Ohio State (8-2, 5-1 in Big Ten) defensive unit that allowed just 201 yards of total offense.

The Buckeyes could win a trip to the Rose Bowl by beating Iowa on Saturday.

Stanford running back Toby Gerhart was named the Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns in an upset win over Oregon.
