Columbus City Schools To Hold Consolidation Plan Meetings

The Columbus Board of Education and other district leaders will hold a series of meetings in coming weeks to discuss a student reassignment and consolidation plan.

Several schools in the district could be closed as administrators work to balance enrollment.

Deshler, Douglas, Fair Alternative and Literature Based Alternative at Hubbard are among the elementary schools on the preliminary closure list.

Middle schools on the preliminary list include Beery, Clinton, Eastmoor, Franklin Alternative and Indianola.

Community meetings regarding the reassignment and consolidation plan will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, November 10:  East HS: 1500 E. Broad Street
  • Thursday, November 12: Walnut Ridge HS: 4841 E. Livingston Avenue
  • Monday, November 16:  West HS: 179 S. Powell Avenue
  • Wednesday, November 18:  Northland HS: 1919 Northcliff Drive
  • Monday, November 23:  Marion-Franklin HS: 1265 Koebel Road

The final reassignment and consolidation plan will be presented to board leaders in December.  If approved, the plan would be implemented next school year.
