A Clark County man was killed when his homemade air craft crashed Saturday night.

It occurred near a private landing strip in Mount Victory, off Route 31 in Hardin County.

Employees at nearby restaurant, The Plaza Inn, said they did not notice anything wrong when the plane came in for a landing.

"We saw him circling The Plaza and he looked fine. Maybe he was going a little slow, nothing abnormal. Planes land here all the time,"  said Jared Tanner.

Moments later the plane had crashed.

The Hardin County Sheriff's office said the pilot was ejected on impact and died at the scene.  He was later identified as Wilhelm Kalweit.

"We have his flight plan. We're still looking through that to determine where he had been, " said sheriff Keith Everhart.

The Sheriff's office did not release the identity of the man, but employees said he landed there often.
