Following a narrow victory at the polls Tuesday, South-Western City School officials voted Wednesday to restore winter and spring sports, 10TV's Tanisha Mallet reported.
An immediate change was seen Wednesday as a result of the passage of the levy - practices for
boy's and girl's varsity basketball, and wrestling - sports programs that otherwise would not have
happened this year.
After a special meeting at district headquarters, the board of education approved
supplemental contracts for coaches.

Just like the levy - which was approved by 51 percent of voters, according to unofficial results - the mood in the district is split.
"This morning when I found out it passed, I decided I didn't have to move because I was going to move if it didn't pass," said parent Greg Herring.
Terry Jones campaigned against Issue 47.
"We wanted a community voice so with the passage of this levy I feel the community has forfeited its opportunity to have a voice in this district," Jones said.
Extracurricular activities and sports and busing will all be restored as a result of the levy passing.
But the district said to make sure the money last the next 4 years they still anticipate $15 million in cuts.
