Most of the residents were able to escape.
According to witnesses, James Beverly managed to get out of the house, but he went back in to try and rescue others.
Beverly, 37, never made it back outside.
On Tuesday morning, authorities announced that a 2-month-old child died overnight from injuries sustained in the fire. The infant was not identified.
The child's father, Nicholas Urita, 28, was hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition.
Urita's other child, a 19-month-old, was also in critical condition at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.
Neighbor Robin Hess said she ran toward the burning home on Monday night and saw nothing but flames and smoke.
"It just really devastating," Hess said. "There were just flames everywhere."
Hess said she found herself holding the injured 19-month-old.
"My old pastor told me to grab the oldest baby," Hess said. "He told me to go across the street with her. I'm not going to go into details on what they looked like, but let's just say they need a lot of prayer right now."
Investigators said that a kerosene heater and wood burning stove were used inside the home but did not immediately determine whether they caused the fire.
The First Baptist Church in Chillicothe announced it will host relief efforts for the Beverly family.
The church, 65 W. Fourth St., will be open until 9 p.m. Tuesday and again on Wednesday and Thursday to collect food and clothing donations.
Monetary donations can also be made to any Huntington Bank location in the Beverly family name.
