Driver Rescued From Car That Plunged Into Lake

A Columbus man was credited with saving the life of a driver who crashed his car into Buckeye Lake on Wednesday night.

Jonathan Blackwell was fishing near a boat ramp on the lake's north shore when a car drove into the water and flipped onto its top.

Blackwell ran to the car, opened the door and used a knife to cut Robert Hewitt, 71, free from his seat belt.

Hewitt was hospitalized after the incident, although he did not appear to be injured.
