The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio has added six locations for fall yard waste disposal. The additional drop-off sites will be open on 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 31 through Dec. 5.
New locations are:
- Department of public service Material Yard; 1881 E. 25th Avenue.
- Department of public service transportation outpost; 500 Scherer's Court.
- Columbus Westgate Park; 455 S. Westgate Ave.
- Department of public utilities electricity offices; 3568 Indianola Ave.
- Department of public utilities Fairwood Avenue Facility; 1250 Fairwood Ave.
- Columbus Fleet Management Division Facility; 4211 Groves Road
In addition to those locations, residents can continue to drop off yard waste at:
Com-Til, 7000 Jackson Pike (no grass clippings) and at various Kurtz Bros. and Ohio Mulch and Manufacturing locations. Kurtz Bros. locations at 2850 Rohr Road; 6055-C Westerville Road; 6279 Houchard Road; and Ohio Mulch and Manufacturing locations including 6747 Taylor Road S.W; 4120 Roberts Road; 4665 Westerville Road;1600 Universal Road; and 537 Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road.
Yard waste disposed of properly is taken to a processing center and turned into soils, mulches and compost.
Those interested in weekly curbside pickups can schedule those through the city of Columbus at a cost of $49.50.
Worthington offers free leaf collection once a week from Oct. 13 through Dec. 4. Leaves must be raked to the curb by Monday morning and are collected by a leaf vacuum.
Yard waste is collected every Monday year round. Yard waste must be placed in a biodegradable container by 7 a.m. Monday to be collected.
Dublin offers free leaf pick-up weekly from Oct. 12 through Dec. 4. Yard waster should be contained in a biodegradable bag weighing no more than 50 pounds and place at the curb. Dublin also provides Christmas tree removal in January.
Bexley picks up yard waste with its normal refuse collection on Monday. Yard waste must be placed by the curb in time for regular pick-up.
Grandview Heights and Marble Cliff
Yard waste will be collected curbside April through November and must be placed in a paper bag marked "yard waste."
Upper Arlington offers free leaf collection beginning Oct. 12 through Dec. 4. Residents must rake leaves at least two feet from the curb and leaf piles must not exceed 4 feet in width.
Leaf pick-up will begin in mid-October and run through Dec. 1 Mondays through Fridays. December 1, Mondays- Fridays. Leaves should be raked to the curbside, free of debris. The leaf schedule pick-up is available online.
Leaf collection is provided weekly during Autumn and leaves must be raked to the curb by 7 a.m. each Monday. For a complete schedule of collection times click here.
Gahanna contracts with Rumpke to pick-up yard waste. All yard waste must be contained in paper waste bags or labeled reuseable containers. Twigs and branches must be bundled together.
Powell provides free leaf removal every Tuesday with normal trash collection. Residents must wrap their leaves in a biodegradable paper bag, labeled with "yard waste" stickers or in a labeled waste receptacle.
Reynoldsburg provides leaf removal services on Thursdays. Yard waste must be set curbside in a paper bag labeled with yard waste stickers that are available at the Reynoldsburg municipal building, 7232 E.Main St.
