A Union County man was in serious condition Friday after he was injured in a boat explosion on Lake Erie.

The explosion occurred Tuesday in East Harbor, located near Marblehead, Ohio.

Harold Jackson, of Marysville, along with his son and nephew, were departing to go fishing when the boat's engine exploded.

The explosion occurred shortly after the boat was filled with fuel.

Jackson, 85, was transported to a hospital in Toledo, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

His son and nephew were not injured.  A fourth man on the boat also escaped injury.
