Self-Storage Burglaries Named Crime Of Week

Crime Stoppers announced on Sunday that it is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads police to three burglars who broke into 24 self-storage facilities.

The crime occurred on Jan. 11 at about 2 p.m. at a self-storage facility located on Valleyview Drive on the city's Far West side.

According to police, three men were riding in a 1990's model, dark Ford Ranger pickup.  The three used a code to raise the business' gate and then went inside.

Investigators said that the men drove the facility, breaking into 16 storage units.  Then, they stole bicycles, tools, wheels and tires.  Several days later, police said that the same group of men returned on foot and broke into eight additional units.
