The woman who was considered a possible witness in the abandonment of a newborn boy came forward on Thursday and was ruled out of being connected to the case.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office wanted to speak with the woman, who was seen at a nearby Goodwill store in Lewis Center, at about the time the baby was found near a road on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities released a surveillance photo of the woman and distributed it to the media.

According to Sheriff Walter Davis, the woman's family recognized her picture and immediately called authorities.

Investigators determined that she did not have information about the case and is in no way connected to the incident.

The baby boy is in the custody of Delaware County Job and Family Services.

A passing motorist called 911 on Tuesday afternoon and reported a baby boy lying near some bushes along Owenfield Drive.

The infant was no more than a few hours old, 10TV News reported.

Investigators remain interested in speaking to anyone who may have information on the case.
