Four Children Die In Fire

Four children died early Saturday in a mobile home fire in western Ohio.

The Champaign County Sheriff's Department told 10TV News that they received a call about the fire shortly before 3 a.m. from a mobile home park at 11690 U.S. Route 36 West in Johnson Township.

Authorities have identified the victims as Nathan Skaggs, age 2; Patrick Snelling, age 8; Breonna Snelling, age 10; and Cassandra Karg, age 10.

Two adults escaped through a window of the burning trailer with their 8-month-old baby. Phillip Skaggs Jr. and Christina Gregg, both 33, and their infant daughter, Natalia Skaggs, were taken to Urbana Mercy Hospital. They were treated and released.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal indicated there was a smoking detector inside the home, but it was not working. Authorities were still saearching for the cause of the fire.
