Ex-Teacher Convicted On Solicitation Charge

A former teacher who was arrested last month during a prostitution sting was convicted Tuesday on a charge of solicitation.

A judge sentenced Amber Carter to two years of probation, 10TV News reported.

Carter, 35, originally faced prostitution and unauthorized use of property charges stemming from her arrest outside of a Bellefontaine motel on Feb. 10.

The prostitution charge was amended to solicitation and the unauthorized use of property charge was dropped.

Carter's arrest came during an undercover investigation that began with an anonymous tip about an ad on Craigslist.

After receiving the tip, a Logan County Sheriff's Office sergeant posed as an interested customer and struck up an online correspondence with Carter, 10TV News reported.

The correspondence eventually led to a meeting at the motel, and Carter was taken into custody after taking money from an informant, investigators said.

Carter, who taught in the Bellefontaine City School District for 13 years, has since resigned.
