A man accused of shooting and wounding two police officers will ask to be released from custody for the holidays, 10TV News reported on Wednesday.
Derrick Foster, who played football at Ohio State from 1988 to 1992, has been in custody since two Columbus police officers were wounded during a raid on April 30.
Police were conducting a raid at a suspected crack house on East Rich Street when gunfire erupted. Officer Tony Garrison was shot in the arm and undercover narcotics Officer John Gillis was wounded in the leg.

Foster, who admitted going to the house to gamble, said he never heard officers identify themselves before initiating the raid.
Foster said he fired two shots from a handgun that he had a license to carry.
In May, a judge denied Foster's requests for bond, calling him a "danger to the public," 10TV News reported.
Foster's attorney will ask a court next week to reconsider.
