Lawmakers pushed for new legislation on Wednesday that would make collecting bodily fluids from a juvenile against the law.

Sen. Steve Stivers introduced the bill that would make such activity a felony punishable by up to a year in prison, 10TV News reported.

The push for a new law came after the arrest of Alan Patton at Sports Ohio in Dublin earlier this year.

Police said that Patton shut off water to the urinals at the facility as part of an attempt to collect young boys' urine. Patton was accused of repeatedly collecting urine in public bathrooms for sexual gratification.

Earlier this week, Patton pleaded no contest to a charge of criminal mischief and sentenced to 60 days in jail. Patton's attorneys said the case would be appealed.

The proposed bill could be on the governor's desk by the end of the year.
