Vance was taken into custody at about 11 p.m. and charged with felony drug possession.

The arrest came hours after the Jackson County Sheriff's Office announced a warrant for Vance's arrest.

Vance faces a charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated murder in connection with the death of Carol Evans, 10TV News reported.

Evans' body was discovered inside her ransacked home on March 27. Deputies said she had been beaten and strangled during an apparent burglary.

Evans was well known in Jackson, where she spent decades as a teacher and principal at three elementary schools.

According to her family members, Evans did not know Vance, 10TV News reported.
