Sheriff's deputies on Friday issued an arre warrant for a man sought in the death of a retired elementary school principal.

Authorities issued a warrant for the arrest of Terry L. Vance, who investigators said was involved in a plot to murder Carol Evans, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported.

Vance, 40, was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, although he has yet to be located.

Carol Evans' body was discovered inside her ransacked home on March 27. Deputies said she had been beaten and strangled during an apparent burglary.

Evans was well known in Jackson, where she spent decades as a teacher and principal at three elementary schools.

According to family members, Evans did not know Vance, Seavert reported.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office did not elaborate on how Vance was involved in Evan's death.

State records showed Vance had previously been convicted of vandalism, possession of drugs and burglary charges in Jackson County.
