Mayor Michael Coleman on Thursday announced the city's plan to pay for a proposed streetcar line.

Coleman said about 80 percent of the funding for the $103 million project would come from a four percent fee increase on things such as downtown parking and entertainment, 10TV's Brittany Westbrook reported.

The fee would apply to sporting and entertainment tickets sold within six blocks of the streetcar line.

That fee would affect events at Nationwide Arena and Lifestyle Communities Pavilion, as well as Blue Jackets and Clippers games, Westbrook reported.

There would also be a fee increase for parking meters. Drivers would pay up to 75 cents more an hour.

Despite the increases, the Ohio State University is a proponent for the line, as well as some citizens. Others, however, think that instead of bringing business in to the city, the fee increase could keep people away.
