RACE FOR THE CURE


The 2013 Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure will take place Saturday May 18, 2013 in Downtown Columbus. The event is expected to have a crowd of approximately 46,000 - 50,000 people taking part in different runs and walks. This large event will have a significant impact on motorists and pedestrians in the area. 

 

Friday May 17th, at 6:00 pm till Saturday May 18th, approximately 3:00 pm

Broad Street will close between High and Third streets

 

Saturday May 18th, at 6:00 am the following will close for the formation area:

Front Street will be closed between Gay and Rich streets

Broad Street between High Street and Civic Center Drive

High Street between Rich and Broad streets

 

Participants should try to arrive early and expect delays.  Roads along the race route will begin closing at approximately 8:00 a.m. 

 

Times for the different starts:

8:00 am:  The 5K Competitive (chip-timed runners only) start

8:10 am:  The 5K Coed Run will start

8:20 am:  The 5K Coed Walk will start

9:15 am:  The 1 Mile Fun Walk will start

 

There will be long rolling closures along the race course.  Motorists who are not attending the events are advised to avoid the area if possible.  The race is expected to be finished around noon. There will be special duty Columbus Police Officers directing traffic for both the Race for the Cure and parking.

 

1 Mile Fun Walk Course:

  • Begins at City Hall (Corner of Broad and Front streets)
  • West on Broad Street to Belle Street
  • South on Belle Street to Town Street
  • East on Town/Rich to High Street
  • North on High Street to the Finish line by the Statehouse 

5K Races/Walks  Course:

  • Begins near City Hall (Corner of Elm and Front streets)
  • North on Front Street to Spring Street
  • East on Spring Street to High Street
  • North on High Street to Goodale Street
  • West on Goodale Street to Park Street
  • South on Park/Front to Nationwide Boulevard
  • West on Nationwide Boulevard to Neil Avenue
  • South on Neil Avenue to Long Street
  • East on Long Street to Marconi Boulevard
  • South on Marconi Boulevard to Broad Street
  • West on Broad Street to Belle Street
  • South on Belle Street to Town Street
  • East on Town/Rich to High Street
  • North on High Street to the Finish line by the Statehouse
