I-71/670 Reconstruction

Friday, November 8 to Monday, November 11

  • At 8 p.m. Friday, the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to State Route 315 south to I-71 south.
  • At 9 p.m., the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south will be closed. Traffic will be detoured on I-670 east to Leonard Ave. to I-670 west to State Route 315 south to I-71 south
  • At 9 p.m., I-71 south will be reduced to one lane and the ramp from 11th Ave. to I-71 south will close.
  • At 10 p.m., I-71 south traffic will be detoured to I-670 west to State Route 315 south to I-71 south.
  • By 5 a.m., Monday, the ramps will be open.

 

BY MONDAY MORNING AT 5 A.M., here is what will be NEW for motorists travelling through I-71/670.

  • The ramp from 5th Ave. to I-71 south will be open. This ramp has been closed for the last two years.
  • The new ramp from Cleveland Ave. to I-670 east and I-71 north and south will be open.
  • The new ramp from I-71 south to Spring St. will be open.
  • The new ramp from I-670 west to Spring St. will be open.

CROSSROADS CONSTRUCTION THIS WEEK

 

Tuesday Night, September 3 – Bridge Pour

(Jack Gibbs nightly closure)

  • At 8 p.m., Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be closed between Leonard Ave. and I-670.
  • By 5 a.m., Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be open. 

 

Tuesday, September 3 to Wednesday, September 4 – Bridge Work (I-670 east to I-71 north ramp nightly closure)

  • Starting at 8 p.m. each night, the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 north will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Leonard Ave. to I-670 west to I-71 north.
  • All ramps and lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. each morning.


Wednesday Night, September 4 – Bridge work (I-71 north nightly closures)

  • At 8 p.m., the ramps from Main and Fulton Streets to I-71 north will close.
  • Also at 8 p.m., the ramp from Miller/Kelton to I-70 west will close.
  • At 9 p.m., the ramps from I-70 west and I-70 east to I-71 north will be detoured to State Route 315 north to I-670 east to Leonard Ave. to I-670 west to I-71 north.
  • All lanes and ramps will be reopened by 5 a.m.

 

Thursday Night, September 5 – Bridge Work

(St. Clair nightly closure)

  • At 8 p.m., St. Clair Ave. will be closed from 2nd Ave. to Leonard Ave.
  • St. Clair Ave. will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

 

Thursday, September 5- Friday, September 6 – Bridge Work

(I-71 south nightly closure):

  • Starting at 9 p.m. each night, I-71 south will be reduced to a single lane and the ramp from 11th Ave. to I-71 south will close.
  • At 10 p.m. each night, I-71 south traffic will be detoured to I-670 west to State Route 315 south to I-71 south.
  • All ramps and lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. the next morning.

 

 

 

Thursday, September 5- Friday, September 6 – Bridge Work

(I-670 west to I-71 south nightly ramp closures)

  • Starting at 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to State Route 315 south to I-71 south.
  • Ramp open by 5 a.m. the next morning.

 (I-670 east to I-71 south nightly ramp closure)

  • Starting at 9 p.m., the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south will be closed. Traffic will be detoured on I-670 east to Leonard Ave. to I-670 west to State Route 315 south to I-71 south.
  • Ramp open by 5 a.m. the next morning.

 

Thursday Night, September 5 to Friday Night, September 6 – Bridge Painting

(I-71 north nightly lane closures)

  • Starting at 10 p.m., I-71 north will be reduced to one lane at I-670.
  • By 5 a.m., two lanes will be open on I-71 north.

 

NON-INTERSTATE CLOSURES

 

TUESDAY, September 3 – FRIDAY, September 6 – Bridge Stripping, Jack Gibbs Sidewalk

(Jack Gibbs daytime flagging)

  • Starting at 9 a.m. each morning, one lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers on Jack Gibbs Blvd. By 3 p.m. each afternoon, both lanes will be open.

 

TUESDAY, September 3 – FRIDAY, September 6– Cleveland Ave. Utilities

(Cleveland Ave. lane closures)

  • Starting at 9 a.m. each morning, Cleveland Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Edward St. to Jack Gibbs Blvd.
  • All lanes open by 3 p.m. each day.

 

 

SPRING STREET EXIT TO CLOSE AS 670 EAST RAMP TO 71 SOUTH OPENS


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Columbus OH) – Late this work week, the Columbus Crossroads team will complete two more milestones: the closing of the Spring Street exit ramp so it can be rebuilt and the opening of the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south, which has been closed for a year.

Before we get to Thursday night, here is a look at the work this week on this mega highway project that will impact traffic.

Tuesday, November 13
Beginning at 8 p.m., I-71 south will be reduced between Jack Gibbs Boulevard and Spring Street for roadway reconstruction. By 5 a.m. Wednesday, there will be two lanes for I-71 south.

Tuesday, November 13 - Wednesday November 14
Beginning at 8 p.m., Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be closed between Ft. Hayes and St. Clair for bridge demolition.The detour is 2nd Ave.
By 5 a.m. each morning, Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be open.

Tuesday, November 13 – Friday, November 16
Beginning at 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 east to Cleveland Ave. will close for roadway construction. By 5 a.m. each morning, the ramp will be open.

Wednesday, November 14
Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be reduced to one lane for roadway work.

Thursday, November 15
Beginning at 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will close. Traffic will be re-routed to SR 315 south to I-71 south.
Also at 8 p.m., I-670 east will be reduced to one lane between SR 315. and I-71.
At 9 pm., I-71 south will be reduced to one lane from 5th Ave. to I-70/71. The ramp from 11th to I-71 south will also close.
By 5 a.m., Friday, November 16
The ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south will be open, but the exit to Spring Street from I-71 south/I-670 will be closed. The Spring St. ramp will be closed for a year so crews can build a new one. The detour is Broad Street or I-670 west to Third Street.
