I-71/670 Reconstruction

SPRING STREET EXIT TO CLOSE AS 670 EAST RAMP TO 71 SOUTH OPENS


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Columbus OH) – Late this work week, the Columbus Crossroads team will complete two more milestones: the closing of the Spring Street exit ramp so it can be rebuilt and the opening of the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south, which has been closed for a year.

Before we get to Thursday night, here is a look at the work this week on this mega highway project that will impact traffic.

Tuesday, November 13
Beginning at 8 p.m., I-71 south will be reduced between Jack Gibbs Boulevard and Spring Street for roadway reconstruction. By 5 a.m. Wednesday, there will be two lanes for I-71 south.

Tuesday, November 13 - Wednesday November 14
Beginning at 8 p.m., Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be closed between Ft. Hayes and St. Clair for bridge demolition.The detour is 2nd Ave.
By 5 a.m. each morning, Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be open.

Tuesday, November 13 – Friday, November 16
Beginning at 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 east to Cleveland Ave. will close for roadway construction. By 5 a.m. each morning, the ramp will be open.

Wednesday, November 14
Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be reduced to one lane for roadway work.

Thursday, November 15
Beginning at 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will close. Traffic will be re-routed to SR 315 south to I-71 south.
Also at 8 p.m., I-670 east will be reduced to one lane between SR 315. and I-71.
At 9 pm., I-71 south will be reduced to one lane from 5th Ave. to I-70/71. The ramp from 11th to I-71 south will also close.
By 5 a.m., Friday, November 16
The ramp from I-670 east to I-71 south will be open, but the exit to Spring Street from I-71 south/I-670 will be closed. The Spring St. ramp will be closed for a year so crews can build a new one. The detour is Broad Street or I-670 west to Third Street.
