WCOL Country Jam for the Kids

Featuring Billy Currington & Eli Young Band

w/ Tyler Farr and Rachel Farley

92.3 WCOL, Columbus’ continuous country radio station, presents the 2013 Country Jam at The LC Pavilion Outdoor Amphitheater on Friday, September 6 featuring Billy Currington and Eli Young Band.  “It’s rewarding to be able to help put together a great country show that not only entertains our listeners, but benefits their kids! NCH provides an incredible service to Columbus, Central Ohio and beyond. I’m glad WCOL can be a partner to such a worthy cause,” says Clear Channel Program Director Michael McCoy.  In addition to General Admission lawn tickets, VIP tickets are available for $92.30.  These tickets will allow entry into The Basement after 5PM for Meet and Greet opportunities with all Country Jam bands.  The ticket also includes access to an acoustic set with the artists from 5PM to 7PM

The title of Billy Currington’s new album, Enjoy Yourself (2010), says it all.  He’s garnered an impressive ten Top 10 hits, with six of those hitting No. 1 – “Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer,” “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” “People Are Crazy,” ”Don’t,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” and “Good Directions.” He’s sold millions of albums and has been selected to tour with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Sugarland.  Despite his laid-back demeanor, Billy has earned a reputation as a hard-working entertainer who puts everything he’s got into his shows every night.  Enjoy Yourself, Billy’s fourth album since he burst onto the scene in 2003, builds on the success of his 2008 collection, Little Bit of Everything.  As with Little Bit of Everything, Billy’s latest features his now trademark mix of country, R&B and beach music. The album is a perfect storm of material that Billy has been eyeing for just the right moment to release and features Nashville’s top songwriters, including Troy Jones, Shawn Camp and Mark Nesler.

It’s a crazy-good story. The Eli Young Band—four musicians who met during their college days in Texas—is now 11 years into a career built on touring without a single lineup change.  EYB received their first platinum record for hit single "Crazy Girl" and have sold over 1.5 million downloads of the track.  The song is a perfect introduction to their latest album, Life At Best (2011), a 14-track album that takes the band’s wide-ranging multi-genre influences and distills them into a focused, engaging vision: edgy country with hints of heartland rock bands such as Tom Petty and classic Eagles.  The album takes the listener on a journey, winding through soundscapes that walk a delicate line. There’s a distinct variance from track to track as EYB veers from energetic quasi-rockers to steel-ladled country songs to conflicted ballads. And yet the album maintains a singular identity, built around a sound that’s been masterfully created over the course of three studio albums.  Their growing TV presence, their continuing road-warrior commitment and the imminent Gold of “Crazy Girl” all point Life At Best in one direction: a crazy little thing called success.

Tyler Farr will be also be amongst the performers at "Country Jam for Kids" in support of his latest highly successful hit "Redneck Crazy".
