Wrong-Way Driver Crashes After Allegedly Stealing Car

A wrong-way driver accused of stealing a car was expected to face charges after crashing into a concrete barrier in southeast Columbus.

The crash happened around 2:30 Friday morning on Alum Creek Drive near State Route 104.

Officials said that after police and medics arrived on scene, they realized the driver was impaired and that the vehicle was stolen.

Investigators tracked the stolen car to a bar on Frebis and Fairwood Avenues.

Officers said the driver was allegedly at the bar when he took off with the car.

The driver was taken to the hospital after the crash.

Expected charges include grand theft and driving under the influence.
