Woman's Camera Containing Pictures Of Mother, Father Before Their Death Stolen During Break-In
A woman said one of her most valuable belongings was stolen when her house got broken into.
Dreama Hughes considers herself her family's historian. She keeps detailed scrapbooks of her family.
Recently, a rough stretch that has included her dog, cat, mother and father dying, has kept her from updating them.
"Lost my dog in February, my cat in June, mom in May and dad in September," Hughes said.
On top of it all, last week, her home was broken into.
Neighbors said that some cars recently have been broken into but nothing like Hughes' break-in.
Thieves came to the side of the house and broke a screen door and let themselves in through the back.
Hughes said that thieves stole her game stations, DVDs, CDs and her camera - nearly $2,000 worth of items.
"But, when I realized that they took my camera, that's when my world fell apart," Hughes said. "The last several months of my mom and dad's life are on that computer chip, on that memory card."
Hughes said that the theft brought back painful memories.
"I just miss them so much, and now to do this to me, it's like going through it all over again," she said.
Hughes said that whoever stole the memory card would never be able to get the memories she holds in her heart.
Police said that they were still investigating the scene and some evidence left behind.
There were no arrests or people of interest identified in the case.
