Woman Thankful She Was Not Injured In Walmart Parking Lot Robbery

Cynthia Garrett said that she was just putting stuff into her car when another vehicle pulled up to her in the Walmart parking lot this past weekend.

“I turned around to look at him, and he was scoping out the area, and I thought that made me suspicious of him,” said Garrett.
Police said the man was Jerrod Wolfe.

“I looped my purse strap around my wrist, afraid that he was going to go for it, and he did,” said Garrett.

Police said Wolfe took off in a car along with Crystal Williamson.

“Thankfully, the purse strap broke because, my thought was if he had closed the door with my purse strap around my wrist, he could have drug me down the road,” added Garrett.

Police chased the two suspects around I-270. They were eventually forced off the road and arrested on the north side of the city.

There have been other reports of similar purse thefts in the area and Garrett has a warning for other women.

“When you get to your vehicles, you have your purse with you, put it in your car and secure it, first. Your belongings are replaceable, but your life is not,” said Garrett.

Wolfe was being held in jail on $125,000 bond, and Williamson was being held on $75,000 bond on Tuesday.
