Woman Gives Away Pot-Bellied Pigs To Avoid Jail Time
A woman in Elyria has to give away her two pot-bellied pigs because of the smell they are creating in her back yard.
Tammy Wilson was given Fred as a gift, and then bought another pig, named Diamond, to keep him company.
The pigs outgrew the litter box, and then started to use the back yard as a bathroom.
"I eventually trained them to go to the door and want to go outside. They got to where they liked staying outside, so I eventually made my backyard their home," said Wilson.
But neighbors say the sty stinks. In fact, neighbors said they had to stop hosting family gatherings because of the stench.
The Elyria Health Department has had to make stops at the home because of the pig poop. Now, a judge ordered Wilson to have them removed or go to jail.
Wilson said a lady with pot-bellied pigs in Vermilion has agreed to take the animals.
"She will keep them safe, and they will not be eaten," added Wilson.
