Woman, 56, Arrested In Connection With Lancaster Arson

Residents said that they were shocked that one of their neighbors was arrested in connection with an arson spree.

According to police, Sherie J. Bomar was arrested at her home on Wyandotte Street and charged with one count of arson in connection with a fire at her neighbor’s home.

Police said that Bomar, 56, also is considered a suspect in connection with 14 other fires in the area of Wyandotte Street and Cherokee Drive set in the past few weeks.

Lancaster Police Chief David Bailey said that officers watched Bomar leave her home Wednesday morning, go to the home next door and set fire to the deck at the back of the home.

“This is typically not the type of suspect you would associate with arson,” Bailey said. “I think we all associate this with younger people. Kids may be experimenting with fire or maybe an adolescent going through some psychological difficulty, so people were surprised that this was a mature individual.”

Bomar was charged with aggravated arson in connection with Wednesday morning’s fire.
