Wildlife Officials Believe Fayette County Snowy Owl Died From Starvation

Ohio State Wildlife officials say a snowy owl died from starvation.

The bird was found in a ditch in Fayette County last week.

An external examination of the owl indicated there were no injuries to the bird.

State experts say there is has been a large mass southern migration of snowy owls due to the conditions this winter. They have even been spotted as far south as Florida.

The snowy owls eat a variety of small mammals, including mice and rabbits.
