The city of Whitehall is offering residents the chance to get funds to spruce up their homes.

Homeowners lined up Wednesday to fill out applications for renovation help.

Whitehall council adopted the initiative in an effort to beatify the community and increase home values.

Residents can get up to $14,000 for exterior home projects. Officials have set aside a total of $100,000 for the effort.

“I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to improve our neighborhood. Whitehall is a wonderful place to live, and I think this is something other communities should look into,” said Russell Robinson, resident.

City workers say one woman arrived at 4:30 a.m. because she was so eager for the help.
