Police said they arrested a man accused of jumping into a woman’s vehicle with her and stealing her purse.

Whitehall police said that Kyle Douglass Seymour of Blacklick was arrested at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

He is accused of trying to abduct a woman at about 9 p.m. June 6.

The woman told police that she was stopped at the corner of East Main Street and South Hamilton Road for a red light when a man, identified as Seymour, 33, approached her vehicle.

Seymour allegedly told her that something was hanging down from her car. Police said he then opened the car door and jumped into it.

On Wednesday, police said they thought a similar abduction that happened two nights later on East Main Street could be tied to the June 6 incident.

After arresting Seymour, police said that they no longer thought the two cases were linked.

According to police, the second incident occurred at the Walmart store, located at 3657 E. Main St.

A 62-year-old man was leaving his parked car when he was approached by a white male with a gun.

One suspect is described as a white male between 20-25 years old, 5-10 to 5-11, with a large build and brown hair and facial hair. The other suspect is shorter with a slim build. His race is unknown.
