The former girls lacrosse coach at Westerville North High School was arrested and accused of soliciting an underage girl online, police said Wednesday.

Richard A. Case, Jr. was arrested after police said he attempted to meet with a juvenile whom he had met online for sex, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported.

Members of the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were investigating a complaint of a man soliciting people online for sex, Westerville Police Lt. Tracey Myers said.

Case, 34, was arrested on Tuesday after he arrived at the meeting location. Police said he agreed to meet a girl for the purpose of taking her to a local park for sex.

"There is no profile of a sexual predator, comes from all walks of life, we have arrested teachers and lawyers and doctors, there is no typical profile for one," Myers said.
During the subsequent interview, Case admitted to knowing that he was meeting a juvenile female.  Case also admitted to having child pornography on his computer at home, Myers said.

A search warrant was prepared and executed on Case's Westerville residence, Seavert reported.

Several computers and hard drives containing suspected child pornography were seized at Case's home.
Case was charged with one count of importuning and one count of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, police said.

The president of the team's booster organization sent an e-mail to parents on Wednesday, notifying them of the arrest.

The e-mail said, in part, "Please discuss this with your daughter, and encourage her to discontinue any form of contact with Rich ... at least until the courts sort this out."

The president of the Westerville North Girls Lacrosse Club said Case was the head varsity coach, but was let go May 6 due to differences in coaching styles.

The team president said they never suspected any inappropriate activity.
