Ontario, Ohio, Mayor Larry Collins says city leaders are concerned about the work habits of City Auditor Jane Hammond.

Collins says Hammond has kept a light schedule at the office this year.

In March,  Hammond was around just a few hours a week.

"She's here, I would say, about three hours a week," Collins said.

Collins says Hammond's attendance dropped off after she turned a resignation letter in December.

In it, Hammond stated. "It's with a heavy heart that I will be retiring."

A month later, she revoked the resignation, stating “I am rescinding my retirement. This is not for release to the media.”

Watchdog 10 has learned Hammond is spending at least some of her time at a Licking county RV dealership during business hours.

The company's website shows Hammond, who goes by her maiden name of Baker, working in the dealership's finance department.

On Monday, she answered the phone at the dealership during the work day.

On Tuesday, Watchdog 10 went to Hammond's office at city hall. The door was locked.
The employee who answered said that Hammond was there, but she had "no comment."

The mayor says the city has paid her $10,399 since the beginning of the year.

Watchdog 10 asked the mayor whether the payments are worth it.

"Well, we don't think so," said Collins. "But she's elected, and we have to pay her."
