Union: Columbus Janitors Could Strike Any Day Now

Unions representing janitors who keep downtown Columbus buildings clean say they may start a strike any day now.

A group of janitors and supporters held a small rally in the Arena District on Monday.

The unions are asking for improved wages and health care.

Janitors say that when they go on strike, people will start listening.

Alfreda Pridgen said that she loves her job as a janitor, but she wants better health care. She says that is something she and others deserve.

“We’re fighting for our rights,” she said. “Not just for us, but for the future of Columbus. When you come in and your restroom is not clean, you’ll want to know what we were saying. We’re asking for equal rights.”
