Two People Die In Crash Near Marion

Two people are dead following a two-vehicle crash near Marion.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on State Route 203 near Keener Road in Big Island Township.

Investigators believe 31-year-old Robert A. Persinger, Jr. failed to stop at a stop sign.

Marion Ohio Highway Patrol troopers say Persinger’s car hit an SUV driven by 26-year-old Eric A. Richie.

Both vehicles stopped in a field.

24-year-old Jarred J. Bullion and 19-year-old Quinton A. Owens were passengers in Richie’s vehicle.

Persinger, Bullion and Owens were flown to Grant Medical Center by MedFlight and Life Flight.

Bullion died en route to the hospital.  

Richie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Persinger and Owens' conditions were not immediately known.

All of the crash victims were from Marion.  None of them wore seatbelts.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Troopers are still investigating.
