Truck Stop Shooting, Columbus Homicide Suspects Arrested In Dayton
Dayton authorities tell 10TV that two men wanted in connection to a crime spree in central Ohio have been arrested.
Nathaniel Brunner, 18, and Devonere Earl O'Shay Simmonds, 17 were wanted in connection with the shooting of the store clerk.
Authorities have also tied them to a gas station shooting and carjacking early Saturday morning.
The shooting occurred when a man was fueling up at a pump at the TA travel center on U.S. 42 at I-70 near London, when two suspects approached him and shot him in the head.
The victim was taken to Grant Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
Authorities had said the suspects took off in the victim's vehicle which was last seen on I-70.
The truck stop shooting happened just hours after Columbus Police identified a second suspect in a fatal shooting of a store clerk that happened Wednesday night.
Brunner, 18, and Simmonds, 17 are wanted in connection with the shooting of the store clerk.
Madison County Sheriff Jim Sabin told the Columbus Dispatch that he believes the two suspects in the truck stop shooting are the same as the suspects in the Wednesday night crime.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol told 10TV that a patrol unit had contact with the two suspects prior to the shooting at the truck stop.
According to a spokesperson for the OHP, troopers encountered the two walking on Interstate 70 near U.S. 42. The spokesperson said it appears that troopers gave them a ride to the truck stop.
That part of the incident is still under investigation.
Brunner and Simmonds were considered armed and dangerous.
At a noon news conference, authorities said they are hoping members of the public come forward and provide more information about Brunner and Simmonds.
