Tips for walking with less pain


If you participate in activities like the monthly OhioHealth Hoofit walks at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Dr. Prissel recommends three ways to walk with less pain:

1. Build up slowly to the distance of the event. You wouldn't run a 5k and declare yourself marathon ready.
2. Train with proper shoes before the event. Shoes will do some of the work for you so that your muscles, tendons and bones don't have to take as much stress.
3. Stretch. Both before and after you walk.
