Thousands Expected To Descend On Downtown For Pride Festival
Nearly 200,000 people are expected to participate in Pride weekend in Columbus this weekend.
Booths and vendors started setting up Friday morning at Goodale Park for one of the largest Pride events in the Midwest.
Organizers said it has taken nearly a year to plan for the weekend.
As a result, more than 600 volunteers will be on hand to handle everything from security to traffic.
More than 200 vendors from across the state also will be present.
Arrin Turnmire has a booth set up to sell children’s clothing.
“I have been printing for weeks,” Turnmire said. “My mother-in-law has been helping us. Then I loaded the van last night and drove two hours to get here this morning, and it’s just a lot of sweat and hard work, and we hope it pays off.”
Pride weekend officially kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday.
