Thieves Creep, Crawl Through Store Looking For Loot
A storeowner was left to pick up the tab after thieves caused thousands of dollars in damage.
The crooks grabbed $15,000 worth of cash, cigars and cigarettes from the Cleveland Avenue cigar shop called Humidor Plus.
“I never thought in my life, somebody going to crawl on the floor, you know?” Owner Diab Ellan said.
Ellan showed 10TV where the crooks took off siding and broke through a wall to enter the store.
“They took all our money, for almost two weeks of sales, all of this,” Ellan said.
Ellan said that the thieves seemed to know exactly where they were going. Surveillance footage showed the crooks creeping and crawling through the store, straight to the goods.
“He knew how to hide from the camera, he knew where we have cameras,” Ellan said. “He knows where we have the safe, where we have the register, you know?”
Ellan said that this was the first break-in like this in two years.
The burglars set off an alarm, but by the time police got there, the crooks got away.
