Thieves Cause Big Damage, Leave With Little Loot

Police said that for all of their trouble, thieves who targeted 17 cars on the north side left with little loot.

People living in the Millcreek Commons and Heathermoor Apartments, off Hard Road, awoke to broken car windows.

Police believed the break-ins occurred between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Though crooks caused plenty of damage to the vehicles, what troubled police is that they did not get away with much.

“They went through our glove box, they did rummage through the car but I don’t keep anything in there just in case something like this happens,” victim Howard Jackson said.

Police said that in most cases, the thieves only got away with change. No expensive electronics were taken from the vehicles.

Investigators were not certain who caused the damage, but said the small amount of money taken was not worth the expensive damage.

Authorities said that they have learned of a rash of car break-ins in the area. No arrests have been made.
