Teen Reported Missing Found Dead In Ditch

Investigators said that they believed a teenager was struck by a vehicle and left to die along the side of a Logan County Road.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, 15-year-old Austin A. Houser was reported missing by his mother at about 12:45 p.m. Friday.

School officials said that Houser had been dropped off at his residence on Thursday after school.

On Saturday, Logan County Sheriff’s Officials received a report of an unresponsive male near state Route 274 north of Rushsylvania.

Deputies found Houser in a ditch, and pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to preliminary reports, Houser was struck by a vehicle, which left the scene of the crash.

Deputies said that they had a person of interest in connection with the crash and were working with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office to file for a search warrant.
