Teen Arrested In Connection With Craigslist Slaying

A teen was arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a man who responded to a Craigslist advertisement for a job, according to the Noble County Sheriff.

According to court documents Brogan Rafferty, 16, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of complicity to attempted murder.

Court documents said that Rafferty’s alleged accomplice was Richard Beasley, who was in jail on unrelated charges.

Noble County Judge John W. Nau issued a gag order on law enforcement and no other information was released, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported.

On Thursday, Noble County Sheriff Stephen Hannum said that a jobseeker from Florida was killed and another from South Carolina was shot after responding to a Craigslist ad for a job on an Ohio cattle farm.

Hannum said that the victims had responded to a bogus listing for a job as a caretaker over cattle on a 688-acre farm. He suspected that robbery was the motive, Hirsch reported.

On Thursday, Hannum said that two men had been taken into custody after cadaver dogs found the body of the Florida man this week in a shallow grave in a remote area.

The Florida man’s body was found while police were investigating the attack on the victim from South Carolina.
