Teachers Not Allowed To Donate Sick Time To Cancer-Stricken Coworker

Teachers and staff at Johnstown-Monroe Local Schools are not permitted to donate their unused sick days to a dying coworker.

Custodian Mike Revercomb has been diagnosed with cancer and doesn't have much longer to live, according to his wife. She petitioned the school board to let other employees donate their sick time because her husband's sick time will soon run out.

The district is not allowing the donations, citing state law.

When reached for comment on Wednesday, the superintendent would not comment on whether or not the school board would reconsider the issue.
