A Bellefontaine City Schools teacher is accused of using Craigslist to solicit sex online, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported Wednesday.

Amber Carter, who has taught in the district for 13 years and has a clean record and good reputation, was placed on paid leave while an investigation takes place.

After receiving an anonymous tip, a Logan County Sheriff's Office sergeant posed as an interested customer and struck up an online correspondence with Carter, Hirsch reported.

According to an investigative report, Carter corresponded with the sergeant and wrote, "Let me know if you want me to just service you or if you wanted to actually have sex."

A meeting was arranged at a Super 8 Motel.  Deputies said that Carter showed up at about noon Tuesday.  As soon as she took money from the undercover sergeant, she was taken into custody.

Investigators said that they think Carter used a computer at the school where she teaches to try to sell sex online, which is a felony.

Carter was not home when 10TV News attempted to talk with her.
