SWAT Team Swarms Home To Arrest Man

One man is behind bars after a standoff with police Tuesday morning.

It started around 1:00 a.m. At a home in the 3500 block of Rand Square East, near Livingston Avenue in east Columbus.

Police got a call from a woman who told them a man was threatening her with a gun. While she was on the phone, officers heard the gun go off.

By the time police arrived, the suspect had barricaded himself inside a home. Police say he would occasionally open the door, but he never came outside.

The SWAT unit was called to the scene and they spent several hours trying to negotiate with the suspect.

Around 3:00 a.m. SWAT shut off the power and gas to the home to try and force the man out.

When that didn't work, SWAT fired rubber bullets into the home and went inside.They were able to arrest the man without incident.

They have not released his charges.
